Udrift Session with friends.
Christmas Day 2011
Planned out drifting for a couple hours because Udrift was offering a free track day if you bring your own Car. Aldirne decided that he wanted to go and test out his 14. Unfortunately with his lack of time the car was not done for this event. Me, Arthur, and my Dad decided to take the 2 S13 hatches out for todays event. Both car is registered so no trailer needed.
Got the cars ready, was suppose to be there at noon but ran late. My Dad adjusted the ride height of the KA S13 and tucked the wires a little bit to avoid some problems. Then went straight to the gas station and we are off to the LVMS.
My dads S13 SR and my daily S13 KA powerr.
215 beltway, on the way to the track. Its about a 10 mins drive from our house. My date was Coco the dog.
Dont have much pic of the driving or our parking but Inku was also there to drive with us. He’s been wanting to drive for a while and now was a perfect timing. He was cooking christmas dinner and took a break to burn some rubber with us.
I drove the KA most of the time. I wanted to see if the car was gonna be able to drift and if the VLSD was still holding up. The car is actually pretty nice and easy to drive, had fun with it. We used a 16″ SE wheels from an S14. Surprisingly, the event was actually a good turn out, about 15-20 drivers. Only Mark Tecson was there for Udrift. It was nice hanging out with some friends and driving for a couple hours. Drove my dads S13 SR too for one lap. I didnt want to burn the rubber at all. so i just did one pass and made it count. That gave me the fix and was ready to go home.
While hanging out, I gave Aldrine the keys to the daily 13. I told him to try it out and see how the car feels. He did a couple 1st gear donuts until I decided to up his challenge. Started to teach him 2nd gear drifts. He actually got it and learning to control his drifts better. He was practicing that until he popped the tires! and Game over! haha, hopefully that was enough to finish his car and we can go out again to Udrift.
That conclude our Christmas drift. 2 hours of it was just enough.
Happy New Years Everyone!

Its the last event of the year and Justdrift is hosting its 2nd Toydrive for CHP. Every year JD partners up with CHP to collect toys for the less fortunate children. Its a way of JD giving thanks to the society or the the people in need.
For this event I traveled with my Dad. We are also delivering Jason Aquino’s new daily drifter project.
We left vegas a little after 3am. We had to do a quick stop to a 24hr Pho joint for breakfast. it was 34 degrees and Pho was the 1st thing in my mind.
I drove straight to WSIR as my dad took a nap. We traveled almost 4 hours and with 13 miles to go I had to stop on the side and switch with my dad. I was so tired and sleepy. LOL.
pops took over the driving and I slept. Got a good 2 hour sleep and almost every one was getting ready for the drivers meeting.
After everything has settled and the track opened for the drift session, me and my dad dropped off the corolla. Then went straight to pick up my S13 and Green Corolla.
It was nice seing my car again! Car was so dirty and it had spider webs everywhere.
The coupe had multiple issues since the make over, I guess we overlooked a lot of stuff after a year of parking and storing the car. Some issues were fixed and some was still to be found. The car hasnt ran quite the same ever since it got painted. My dad brought and prepared some stuff to fix the car, he even took his welder with him just in case he needed it. I was complaining about the lack of power, my dad assumed that we needed to change the gaskets on the down pipe and the turbo-downpipe gaskets. There was a leaking sound from that area the last time I drove it.
After checking everything, from the hood and under the car, my dad saw the problem. I have a cracked turbo manifold!
its something that we cant fix on site. It has to be replaced when we get back in Vegas. However, my dad was not gonna let me park the car. He said that it will just get worst and you will start loosing more power throughout the day. He adjusted the timing and we changed tires and Im off to the track!
quick snap shot before hitting the tracks.
I probably missed the car so much that I ignored the car issues. Bumped up the tire pressure and im off to play!
I gave a lot of ride-along to the poeple watching and to some visitors. Drove and played tandem with Carlos and Hiro as well.
throughout the day the crack manifold was starting to get worst… the car was getting harder and harder to drive. it seriously felt like driving a corolla, where some parts of the track that you dont need to clutch kick you know have to double the amount. even on the straigh away I had to feather the clutch to push my revs up. It was time to pack up and put the coupe on the trailer.
We also checked on the corolla. this was a sad sight. the car looked like a junkyard material. it breaks my heart that this car is loosing our attention. I wish money isnt hard to come by. after so many years I dont know what happened… we ended up with a lot of car project that made this car loose its love.
The corolla has a blown block. Someday we will get around this and will be back home to Vegas. I hope to refresh this car like what I did on my coupe. I think best of this car back when it was white. So if there is somebody out there who has an extra 4ag red top block holler at your boy! Help me bring the corolla back to life.
End of day.
Packed up and ready to go, Charlie invited us for dinner with the staff. I only attended the saturday event because I need to be back to Vegas for Sunday errands. Wish I could have stayed for sunday, but it was all worth it and I got my fix of driving. Very happy to transport the s13 coupe back to vegas.
Ghost Town Ca.
45+ miles to vegas! thats Primm Valley. The drive was not bad at all, considering I only had 2 hours of sleep. Traveled 3.5 hrs total with one stop @ Ghost town Ca.
sat down sunday morning while drinking my coffee, i just looked at the car. it was nice having her back. so i took the liberty of cleaning her up and fixing her parking spot. shes now in storage until further notice. i’ll start her up every now and then and who knows when will this car see the tracks again.
great 2011! looking forward to 2012
Happy Holidays! Cheers!

2012 is finally on the wrap for vegasdrift. last weekend 11/05/11 was the last but is definitely an event to remember. and im sure that the people who drove or watch would agree with me on that.
it was a pretty nice day as this particular saturday was in between the rain in Vegas. With the deminse of SEMA week, everybody was looking forward on driving. This is the 1st time that VegasDrift used the IRC (Infield Race Circuit) for drifting. I probably did about 3000+ laps in this course in the last year for working @ Exotics Racing. the 1.1 mile track has 9 turns and a straight away that could rip the Ferrari Scuds, 458 Italias, and Lambo’s up to 120+ mph speeds.
of course, I was not looking into getting the top speed out of my dads S13 hatch. But I was really looking forward on drifting the back section where the link of turns are nice. Its very rare and close to none that we get to drift on a real track in Vegas, unless you drive 60+ miles to Spring Mountain Raceway.
Regardless of the experience I had on the track, it will be my 1st time to drive/drift clock-wise configuration. From the straight away, Turn 1 to turn 2 is the staging area. the fun begin as soon as the vd staff release you on the track. Turns 3-4-5 are a good flow, 5-6 is a bit too long for my dads under-powered car but turn 6-7 is a fast 3rd gear on the floor action. I loved the part of the track as I was pushing it thru out the day. The track is surprisingly good on tires. I only used a pair for the whole day, totalled about 15-18 laps for ride alongs.
Turn 4 entry tandem with Odi Bakchis (2011 FD Rookie of the Year) He was on my ass the whole time and was adjusting with angle. insane driver! very consistent. I had fun driving with him at this event.
Drove my dads s13 hatch the whole day. Wish my car was in town for this event. But I cant complain as long as Im behind the wheel of a car. No problems all day with this car, just gas and go. If I had a lot of tires I would have probably drove my heart out. It was a great day for this.
The day was not just about for driving and practice. VD had a mini-comp, Qualifying style, best run and #1 Qualifier gets the bragging rights of the event and of the year. No tandem, no cage required. It was just about driving your own style and having fun. Vegas, Cali, Hawaii and Utah drivers was ready.
The judging section was set up between turn 3-4-5. The clipping points was very visible here and the entry. From (L-R) Ray Berlo (Safety and Track Marshall) Me, Odi Bakchis, and Joshua Guild as judges for the event.
Gary Ganotisi from Hawaii was full force on the field. He was driving hard! Best ive seen of him and he was good freestyling. Angle, Smoke, Speed, and line was great. He got 3rd Place.
Bucky Laing was impressive as always. Bouncing off the rev limiter, shooting flames and popping exhaust sounds. He wanted to kill the event with his explosive style. He was 2nd place and 1 point shy for the win.
Mr. B-Wick on the rise! if we can award the “Spirit of Drifting” it should definitely go to our friend from Utah. Brandon almost had a perfect score from the judges, hes 1st and 2nd runs was very impressive. Brandon was awarded the Best of Vegas driver of the year and won the prizes. Thanks to our sponsors for this event.
Brandon 1st Place, Bucky 2nd Place, and 3rd Place goes to Gary.
The mini comp lasted only about an hour or less. Everyone jumped back in thier cars and started driving again. It was a very laid back and stress free event. Every one was just chillin and driving all day. Hopefully we will be back in this track next year, im sure the drivers will be double the amount than this one. If you missed this event its a shame, you missed out on a lot! Great track, great weather, great people.
except of course to some drivers like my good friend Inku who was sidelined for undefinite reasons. Oh how I know he was dying to drive that day. so heres for the rest who was hating because they did not drive. “the birdie”
To end the blog entry, Nick Dizon as always had given his heart out and passion to the drift community. Vegas is indeed lucky to have this guy to Organize the local events.
See you all in 2012.

Mickie Frial Think of this in hindsight…..since this video: 1. Cody’s S13 was stolen followed shortly by Justin Pawlak’s FC. 2. Matt Powers is now a bona-fide contender in Formula D. 3. The battle between Mike Mike Bolaños and I pretty muched summed up the 2009 Topdrift Championship. 4. The Coronado Speed Festival is still the funnest demo I’ve ever done, it was a pretty special weekend for me also!. My good friend Greg Finch (touching the hood on my car in the beginning) is now in Korea protecting our freedom! And yet, no matter how much seems to change, some things still stay the same.
Awesome compilation of Mickie Frial’s drifting in the last 3 years or so. One of the most seasoned drivers and a good friend of www.justdrift.com Mickie is a very talented driver, always an amazing experience driving with this guy. I never won a single tandem comp with this guy, he is pretty much my kryptonite. But we did co-champion in the 2009 top drift series.
